GoFundMe Launched for Miss J. Alexander After Stroke

Miss J. Alexander
Friends of Miss J. Alexander have launched a GoFundMe campaign to support the beloved runway coach and television personality as he continues recovering from a life-altering stroke.

Alexander - best known as a judge on America’s Next Top Model - revealed in the Netflix documentary Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model that he suffered a severe stroke in December 2022 that left him partially paralyzed.

Five Weeks in a Coma

According to the documentary, Alexander was left unable to walk or speak following the stroke and spent five weeks in a coma. He then endured a year and a half of intensive rehabilitation.

During his recovery, he experienced additional mini-strokes and seizures that required further hospitalizations. While he has since regained his ability to speak, he remains unable to walk and continues to require extensive care.

“For the past three years, Miss J. has been bravely fighting his way back and struggling to live independently,” the GoFundMe page reads. “We are hoping to secure full-time, round-the-clock care and help with ongoing physical, speech, and occupational therapies.”

Funds raised will go toward rehabilitation services, in-home care, medical expenses, and essential living costs during his recovery. As of publication, the campaign has raised more than $31,000.

Renewed Attention Amid ANTM Scrutiny

The fundraiser comes as America’s Next Top Model faces renewed cultural scrutiny, with critics revisiting the show’s beauty standards, controversial challenges, and treatment of contestants.

Some viewers were previously unaware of Alexander’s health struggles following his departure from the series ahead of Cycle 19, reportedly at the network’s request. His candid appearance in Reality Check - where he discussed behind-the-scenes tensions - has led some fans to reconsider his exit and view him as one of the franchise’s overlooked casualties.

Organizer Responds to Questions

The fundraiser was organized by friend Steven Grossman, who responded to questions online about why the campaign was launched now.

“Because he kept it private for years until the Netflix documentary came out and it wasn’t my news to share,” Grossman wrote. He clarified that while he works in Hollywood, he has never represented Alexander professionally. “He’s just a friend.”

As supporters rally around Miss J., fans of the iconic runway coach are hopeful the fundraiser will help him continue the long road toward independence and stability.
