Jane Schoenbrun, known for
I Saw the TV Glow, is writing and directing
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, a queer slasher comedy about obsession, ambition, and the dark side of fandom.
About the Film
The film follows a queer filmmaker tasked with directing the next installment of a once-beloved horror franchise. Determined to reinvent the series, she becomes obsessed with bringing back the original movie’s legendary “final girl.” What begins as admiration quickly spirals into rivalry and desire, turning their relationship into a volatile mix of competition, tension, and psychological unraveling.
Set against a backdrop of campy carnage, self-aware horror, and late-night thrills, the movie blends gory set pieces with biting humor, offering a sharp and playful commentary on horror fandom and the slasher genre.
Schoenbrun describes the project as a “sleepover classic” - a midnight movie experience that combines outrageous horror fun with heartfelt, character-driven storytelling. The film is both an homage to and a subversion of classic slasher tropes, incorporating dark comedy, queer perspective, and meta-horror self-awareness.
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma will star Gillian Anderson and Hannah Einbinder, and is currently slated for theatrical release on August 7, 2026.
